About

a Dad, a Friend, who values a good origin story, and the future around the corner.

My two kids at home are my rock. Growing up and still being in Boston shapes me, and I’m making sure it shapes each of them (even if my oldest prefers Starbucks to Dunkin). I’m an Irish-American mutt of immigrants to New England, and the son of a college professor that spoke ancient Greek, and gave me my first book: The Iliad (a children’s version). No wonder I am energized by history, architecture, politics, antiquity, seafood, religion, wordplay, and getting up into the woods and mountains. …and Sports: the beloved Celtics, and then Bs, Sawx, Pats and Revs in that order. In all of these things are powerful and positive lessons I do my best to convey to the children, while humbly reminding myself of life’s guidance. This outlook did not come without painful losses, and I am forever grateful to my father, sisters and friends that made me pull myself thru rather than doing it for me. Embarking on my first job search in years, I stand confident and optimistic that the next chapter is where it all comes together.

“It ought to be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. Because the innovator has for enemies all those who have done well under the old conditions, and lukewarm defenders in those who may do well under the new. This coolness arises partly from fear of the opponents, who have the laws on their side, and partly from the incredulity of men, who do not readily believe in new things until they have had a long experience of them.” ― Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
